When I use the text editor buttons, I get computer code. What should I do?

The buttons are actually working fine. They're meant to do this.

We did not install one of the standard, WYSIWYG web editors because often they don't produce exactly what you want. Instead, the editor we've provided here actually produces the code -- tags to be precise -- the render the effects you want.

Please, simply ignore the tags on the page and keep writing. If you want to see what your content will look like after publication, just press the eyeball button to preview. Press it a second time to return to the text entry page.

If you are not sure what a particular button does, please press the question mark button.

Lastly, make sure you have highlighted the word or section you want to edit before pressing the button. The editor will add the tags before and after the section of text.

For example, the markup: "<strong>this</strong> is bold" produces "this is bold".

If you decide you want to change the effect, just delete the code that's been inserted.
