I just wanted to let you all know I'll be speaking at the Social Media 2007 conference in Atlanta on January 31st.
My presentation is titled POD-ERGIZE YOUR PR!. Here's a link to the agenda and a short excerpt from the write-up on my talk:
Clearly, podcasting lives on the cutting edge of new media technology. Far more than just a vehicle for listening to music, it is as powerful a tool for public relations as has come by in a long time and can be used to complement and energize any PR program.
But how?
That, of course, is what I'll discuss. I do believe that podcasting, blogging and other types of social media have moved from "nice to have" to "essential" for nearly all communications programs today. They are playing a role in everything from commerce to presidential politics.
This morning, for example, I watched an online video in which Sen. Barack Obama announced he is exploring a presidential bid. The senator announced this news on the video, which was on his Web site. This is certainly a more compelling communication vehicle than an old-fashioned press release on a piece of paper.
I'll be attending the whole conference, which will cover blogging and podcasting, and I'll try to share what I learn here on the blog as well as on my Talking Communications with Farrell Kramer podcast. In the meantime, there is a conference blog recently put up that might prove interesting as well.
